Rain Chains Direct started in a rented Los Angeles garage with a stack of metal planters, a length of chain, and the idea that watching water move should be part of owning a home. Twenty-three years later, we're still a small company that does one thing carefully.
We've been the web's rain chain shop since 2003 — long before they showed up in big-box stores. Our whole pitch is quality for your dollar: chains designed with real proportions and real material, sold direct so the price stays reasonable, backed by a person who answers email.
Being small is the strategy, not the stage we're at. It means every part of the business runs on the principles we actually hold: honest product claims, full 8.5-foot lengths when much of the market quietly shrank to six feet, fast free shipping across the continental U.S., and no games with what things are made of.
The line runs on two honest materials: copper chains that are 100% pure copper — never coated, so they weather to a true patina — and rust-proof aluminum, matte black or gray milled, for a finish that never changes. Either way, it's the version of this product we'd hang on our own house.
We also try to run the place responsibly — a paperless operation since the early days, and a longtime supporter of sustainable landscaping: rain gardens, catchment barrels, and putting runoff to work instead of underground.
